Profmed is a restricted medical aid scheme that is open to professionals who have obtained a minimum of a four-year degree or equivalent from a technical university offering these individuals exclusive yet affordable medical cover. Profmed's vision is to address the healthcare needs of professionals through appropriate and comprehensive benefit design. In order for Profmed to maintain its restricted medical aid scheme status, it is necessary that Profmed's eligibility criteria are upheld. If you have a degree and/or qualification of four years or more, or two three-year degrees, or a three-year degree with a post-graduate qualification of not less than one year, you are eligible for Profmed. Dr Behrman practised as a general practitioner for 20 years and was the SA consultant to the Medical Protection Society of London for 17 years, a previous medical advisor to two Cape-based medical schemes and also a trustee of one. BSc, FASSA While qualifying as an actuary, Mr Du Toit worked for ten years in a number of large financial services companies gaining actuarial consulting experience. He has served as a trustee of other pension funds and as a member of a number of tribunals. He has a joint degree from the universities of Utrecht, Aarhus and Cardiff; MA from the University of the Witwatersrand; and studied investment banking at New York University and project finance at the Universities of Pretoria and Stellenbosch. Dr Newell was appointed by the Board and will complement the Board with his experience in dentistry. He was a lecturer and surgeon at the medical schools of both the University of Cape Town and Stellenbosh University. He is a member of the South African Medical Association (SAMA), and has served at branch and national level with SAMA. He subsequently wrote the qualifying Board Examination in 1982 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant. Mr Jeena started practice as an Auditor and Accountant in 1985 and subsequently established the audit firm of Karolia Jeena Inc. Whilst in public practice, he completed a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) through Wits. In 1996, she founded Qualsa Healthcare and grew the company to a staff of 250 before the company was purchased by Metropolitan Health. She has completed additional studies in Advanced Ethics, Duties of Directors and High Performance Boards. His years as a pharmacist and later as a senior employee and director of Clinic Holdings Group of hospitals have contributed greatly to Profmed medical aid scheme.
