This website provides details of Troupant Publishers, a South African book publishing company that publishes textbooks for FET colleges, and also non-fiction for ther general market under the imprint Rollerbird Press.

The company was started in 1998 and published a large number of titles, some of which have become major sellers. History Troupant is owned by Van Schaik Bookstore who purchased the shares in the business from the founder, Basil van Rooyen, on his retirement from publishing. The technical TVET titles of Troupant were first published as the Mactech Technical series by Macmillan and later as the Southern Technical Series by Southern Books, and the list goes back almost 30 years. Louise has been involved in the publishing industry since She has previously worked at Southern Book Publishers and Penguin Publishers. She ran the University of the Witwatersrand Publishing Studies Honours Degree course for a number of years. Louise is also a Director of Bookstorm, a trade publishing company. Dinky Gschliesser first started working in a publishing house in She has filled numerous roles in publishing admin and sales at various organisations, including Macmillan SA, Southern Book Publishers and Troupant Publishers. She has been running the admin side of Troupant Publishers since inception. Salome Smit has over 10 years’ experience in project management and communications in the publishing and corporate sectors. After beginning as a freelancer offering editorial services, Salome joined trade publisher Frontrunner Publishing. After spending a few years managing her own communications project management company, Salome returned to Troupant, where she manages the editorial and production function. Jyoti Singh is commissioning editor of Troupant's business titles in particular. She holds a Master’s degree in English Literature and worked as a lecturer before becoming involved in the educational publishing industry. She has filled a variety of editorial roles in the past, but her role at Troupant encompasses author care and fulfilling other publishing functions. Leanne Storer has been working in the publishing industry for the past seven years. Stacey has over four years of project management experience in educational publishing. She worked as the Science and Technology Managing Editor for another publisher before joining Troupant Publishers in She is Troupant’s Production Quality Controller and works with editors and proofreaders, especially for the engineering titles, to ensure quality textbooks. Stacey has a BSc (Hons) degree, which comes in handy when working on our many engineering titles. Promise studied Marketing Management and Desktop Publishing. She has experience in both newspaper and book publishing on the design and production side. As she has worked as a typesetter and a managing designer over the past years, this experience comes in handy when getting our books ready, dealing with suppliers and tight deadlines. Pretty joined Troupant straight from college in 2011 and has looked after the reception and switchboard ever since. She competently manages the traffic control of couriers and assists the Admin, Operations, Publishing and Production departments where necessary.
