Amariam Pictures is a South African based film and documentary production company, specialising in broadcast and feature length documentaries and fiction, from script development to distribution and sales. We have been active in independant filmmaking since 2008, as a subsidiary to Amariam Productions, which was established in 2004 to mainly produce corporate videos and commercials. Since then we have been busy developing and producing films on the African continent aimed for the domestic and international market. With some of the best and most lucritive financing opportunities having opened up in South Africa in the last five years including the 35% rebate for local films, 20% rebate for international productions from the Department of Trade and Industry and up to 49% recoupable equity incentive by the Industrial Development Corporation, we can secure up to 84% of our films budgets between these two funds alone! We are primarily looking for sales, distribution, co-production and some gap funding to finish the films below and distribute to the global market. From commissioned dcoumentaries to factual one offs and series, we produce and facilitate documentary film making for the global market and setup co-production, distribution and broadcast sales. We won a silver palm at the Mexico International Film Festival and Unhinged has screened on TopTV as the headliner for their documentary strand and has been picked up by Sideways Film for international distribution and sales. With rapid narrative, dry humour, trivial factoids, insightful observations and a highly enjoyable soundtrack, the film tells a slice-of-city-life story. dance film set in Cape Town, inspired by movies like Step It Up and You Got Served. Director Ziggy Hofmeyr and producer Pascal Schmitz have teamed up to launch a nation wide search for S.A’s best street style dance talent, in conjunction with a crowd funding campaign in which they plan to raise a portion of the films budget. They haven’t been given the same acknowledgement as our DJ’s and musicians and so we want to create partnerships with various dance organisations and dance groups, especially those that give back to their community, by profiling them in our PR campaign and even donating a portion of the films profits to them, in order to make dance in South Africa a sustainable passion and something all professional dancers can live from for a change.’ Currently the film is running an Indiegogo campaign which is an online crowd funding platform. Two big events are also being planned, one in Jo’burg and one in Cape Town, which will show off some of the best dance talent with profits going towards the making of the film. Dance films in South Africa have proven to be extremely profitable and the team are certain that they will produce a fantastic film that everyone will be proud of.
