Although we are winding down to enjoy the holidays and time with our families, for many young people it is a time of stress as they consider the looming new year and are faced with having to take serious decisions about their lives for the future.
No, not the tinsel and jingle bells time, or even the most wonderful event of the birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
The young people of our Church have really taken to the Rooted in Jesus Discipleship Programme as a recent Training Conference in Johannesburg demonstrated.
It has been a year full of activities, a year we all had goals to achieve and dreams to be fulfilled.

What is the young and the church suppose to do different this year. Hi Anthony, Apologies for only replying at this late stage. We have to raise the awareness of the vulnerability of children and youth as well as provide protection and advocacy for those who are unable to do so for themselves. We are also depending on the creativity and innovation of the Dioceses to come up with ideas and initiatives, and to let us know what you have done. What are the meanings of the various colours that make up the logo? Yellow: signifies the Son (as in the sun) who is our Lord and Saviour. Blue: signifies progressiveness, innovation, creativity and vision. Red: signifies concern, compassion and action in the areas of nurturing and protecting our children and young people. If you study the logo, there are other significances that stand out, viz. It signifies that we are not perfect, but being connected to the Son, we have inherited his perfect image. Should a Diocesan Youth Council wish to use the logo for Diocesan purposes, they are entitled to add the name of their Diocese as per the example, below. Should the items be resold for a profit, then we would like the Diocese to consider sharing a portion of the profit with PYC. PYC recognizes that each Diocese is unique and has their spcific needs and requirements. It also recognizes that each Diocese has it’s own youth structures elected and appointed from their own ranks. To support the youth ministry in each of the Dioceses, in particular, the Diocesan Youth Councils, through guidance, advice, synergy, vision, sounding board, mentorship and other youth ministry related resources. To assist our Bishops in ensuring an effective Youth Ministry is established in their Dioceses and to provide guidance and insight, where necessary. To ensure that the Youth Leadership is adequately developed and prepared for ministry and that they possess the necessary skills and competencies to be able to carry out their roles and responsibilities. To ensure develop partnerships within the Anglican church and beyond with organisations and ministries which can add value to the ministry to the young. To study the trends in Youth Ministry globally and nationally and to recommend new strategies that will contribute to growth and objectivity within the Province. To create a platform for communication across the Dioceses and to ensure that anybody and everybody is able to participate and benefit. To provide a generic framework for children and youth ministry with appropriate resources and materials. PYC is not event driven, although it would encourage the use of events to further the ministry. PYC will develop initiatives and actions to ensure that this purpose is fulfilled and will partner with all ministries that has direct input and influence in the development of our young people. Seeking to add value to the youth ministry in the various Dioceses and to support them in achieving their God-given goals.
