Ribs had become an extremely popular item on South African menus, but for people working in the industry, sourcing rib meat of consistently high quality, that was also quick and easy to prepare, remained a challenge. Over the years as the business grew and moved to bigger and better premises, the company expanded into offering its product to the retail industry allowing anyone at home to simply prepare and enjoy the a BRM taste sensation around their owns braais and in the comfort of their own homes. Today, not only ribs but an entire range of fully cooked and marinated BRM meat products are available to the both the restaurant and catering industry as well as directly to consumers through retail chains and a well-stocked Factory Shop. BRM’s position as market leader and our uncompromising commitment to quality and food safety was recognised and officially validated in 2006 when we become the first company in Africa to have our Food Safety and Quality Management System certified by the SABS (South African Bureau of Standards) as ISO 22 Our commitment to quality and food safety is on-going and more recently, we were certified on the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), benchmarked FSSC 22 000 standard in addition to regularly having our facility approved in various customer hygiene audits. The new facility is situated on a 15 000 m² site and includes not only state of the art production facilities but a cold storage and distribution centre as well a Concept Kitchen and another factory outlet that sells direct to the public. The factory operates state of the art machinery and is the most advanced rib processing plant in the world with capabilities to process a host of interesting and top quality valued added meat products in large volumes. Once we’ve prepared and packaged our products, we distribute them across Southern Africa to major retailers and food service operators. We are also export approved (ZA 119) for various international markets. In addition to our best-in-the-world BRM branded products, we can develop customised products under private labels. Our excellent team of food technologists and chefs thrive on developing new concepts and making client’s ideas take shape. From day one, customer satisfaction has been our primary concern.
