We believe that television, Kaleidoscope Children's Arts Festival of the Department of Arts and Culture, has this responsibility.
Our drama group has performed twice locally at the Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees in Oudtshoorn, which essentially enables visual communication (the vehicle of Sign Language), Science and Technology.

During its 18 year existence, The New Production Corporation has trained deaf directors, assistant directors, presenters, actors, sub-title editors, camera, wardrobe, and continuity persons, production assistants, scriptwriters and runners. This speaks of the standard of training in the company. He is currently training deaf individuals all over Europe for the television industry. In our new series, Candice Morgan gets some valuable tips for motorists from Layton Beard at the AA. Layton continues talking about travel essentials that all motorists should have. SLED Candice Morgan visits the SLED offices in Cape Town and Johannesburg. SLED Director, Cara Loening explains a little about the history and vision of the organisation, along with some of the projects they are involved in. Candice Morgan is the Executive Producer and Anchor Presenter of DTV. As Executive Producer she has to take charge of the production of DTV and work closely with all of the role-players. On top of this she also directs and edits inserts, and is responsible for producing Zwakala annually. When she’s not working or traveling, she is a dedicated mom who loves nothing more than spending quality time with her son. Louise van Niekerk is the Producer of DTV, and secures contracts and gives creative input. She works closely with her directors and other production staff. Her most challenging task (apart from managing creatives!) is realizing her Mercedes dreams on a bicycle budget. She has been involved in television since its inception and has written many children’s series. She secretly prefers the stage and has written, directed and produced many plays and shows. Any other available time is spent with her grandchildren and reading. (That is if and when she has the energy to recover from the crazy week that was, and building up energy for the next one!) She found her previous jobs as lecturer, psychologist and drama teacher less exhausting but not as soul satisfying as empowering the Deaf in the field of television. He has the skills of being a TV director, an editor and is familiar with sound and camera work, and makes sure that DTV complies technically with what the broadcaster requires. As an award winning television director, Henning has been in the industry since television started in South Africa. She takes care of the schedule, the budget and all production plans, and works closely with the whole team. Growing up Barbara always wanted to be a social worker since she has a passion for helping others, and absolutely adores children. As the Production Coordinator of DTV she is in charge of the pre-production of all shoots. She takes care of the final control sheets, music cue sheets and the labeling of tapes before delivering to the SABC, and also manages most of the DTV admin work. Josinah is studying Public Management on a part-time basis, so any free time is spent with her family and making sure that all of her assignments are up to date. His main task is collecting or delivering things that could be documents, footage, or props needed for the production. He also fetches guests of DTV from airports, buses or trains and takes them back after visits. He enjoys fetching the finalists of the Zwakala competition most. As a father of two beautiful daughters, Loya loves and understands children. In his spare time he likes the outdoors and enjoys music.
