Then to those who are already used to gas, being used to something is dangerous because it often results in complacency. Make sure to never store your LP gas bottle near a direct source of heat (such as a stove, heater, fire, direct sunlight or in a car boot for a long period of time). LP gas expands when hot and this can sometimes damage the valve, the hose or the cylinder. Always try to transport an LP gas bottle in an upright position and not on its side. In its natural state LP gas is colourless and odourless. To make it even safer to use, a very strong flavour is deliberately added. Open all doors and windows to allow fresh air into the room. Turn off the valve of the cylinder and if possible, move it outdoors (if not already outside) Allow enough time for all the gas to leave the room before re-entering. When the smell has completely gone, take the cylinder to Gas Family and have them check it professionally. Take your cylinder to Gas Family or nearest LP gas dealer for a free safety check. If your cylinder has been involved in a fire, don’t attempt to use it. When lighting your appliance, always first light the match or lighter and then turn on the gas supply. When the LPG cylinders are delivered, care should be taken to see that they are in proper condition and the plastic seals are in place before receiving them. They should be kept away from any combustibles, heat and open electricity distribution boards. All LPG equipment should undergo regular supervision, checks and maintenance.
