Hotel Hope is a fully registered South African charity. Our interventions range from education, confidential HIV.

are young and dynamic and make a difference in 3 key areas:- Orphaned and abandoned children (HIV infected or affected).
Alexandra Township. We.
encouragement they need.- Mothers in Crisis-pregnancy situations, particularly in the.
testing, family mediation to job training and day-to-day support. Our homes are for 12 children max so that they can get all the love and.
skills, train mothers in sewing skills and operate a charity shop.

Although children are our main focus, we have a holistic approach to the problem of orphaned and abandoned children. So we have projects to focus on assisting Mothers and Fathers, so that they can look after themselves and their children. Creating and supporting several small family style foster homes for orphaned and abandoned babies. Providing young mothers facing unplanned pregnancies with counselling, guidance and practical support. Helping Mothers and Fathers to help themselves by providing jobs and skill development opportunities through our fundraising and trading projects. We have a unique funding model in place where we are able to generate funds to cover 100% of our administrative costs through our Charity Shop as well as the output of our carpentry workshop and sewing workshop. Creating and running several small family style foster homes for orphaned and abandoned babies. Advocating for adoption and encouraging more South African families to adopt. Hotel Hope Ministries is for families, we want every child to know the love and security of being part of a family. Ideally we aim for orphaned and abandoned children to be placed in their adoptive forever families as soon as possible and so we work with social workers and welfare organisations to make this possible where we can. However, it is a process that takes time and sadly there are many more children seeking adoptive families than willing families and so in the meantime we raise them as our own in family style homes. We do not want children to feel like a number in an institution, but rather a special little person in our loving family. Our first two foster homes are two warm, semi-detached houses in Melville which are next door to each other. In our first year we accepted a total of 17 children in our foster home, 3 of whom were adopted and 2 re-united with their extended families. Staffing, house cleanliness, the children’s health, nutrition and education is overseen by our operations team who provide guidance and support to our Foster Parents. We are looking for the right location, funding and staff for our third foster home. Our experience has taught us that more often than not the mothers want to keep their children but do not have the adequate support or guidance; as a result they opt for giving up their children. We believe that by assisting the mothers, we are able to in some cases prevent them from giving up their children. Some of the mothers are as young as 13 years old and are mostly in high schools. To expand our services offered to a 3 rd high school and also to develop a strong abstinence and awareness campaign in the high schools, to prevent teen pregnancies. We currently run two charity shops in Melville as well as partner with a wood workshop in Henley. This shop was established with a view of selling upmarket items to the middle income customers. Both charity shops have established themselves as a community project in their own right, we have been able to create 6 full-time jobs, enabling previously unemployed people to be financially independent. Simple but beautiful and practical wooden items, such as storage boxes, bunk beds, shelves, cots and other items are created in the wood workshop.
