We'll also be practising the same Power Breathing through alternate nostrils and end the class with a breath watching meditation to balance the dynamic 'yang' energy we've generated with some more relaxing 'yin'. In this class designed for people new to meditation, Jonathan will introduce you to meditation through the simple but extremely powerful practice of watching your breath as a way of stilling your 'monkey mind' and connecting with the Peace that is your true nature. He'll also talk about the physical and psychological benefits of meditation to give you a deeper understanding of what meditation really is and how making regular meditation part of your daily routine will profoundly improve your health, well-being and quality of life. In this class, Jonathan will be guiding you through a meditation using sound and vibration as mantras to help you to enter a deeper state of meditation than you would otherwise be able to experience. A mantra can be anything that meditators focus their attention on to still their minds and find inner peace. The sound and vibration combined with breathing and touch will also help to unblock your most important chakras and release negative energy that is stuck there. During this class, Jonathan will show you how to use your breath to enhance the effect of positive thoughts and emotions. We'll be breathing as a group while thinking the thoughts and feeling the feelings associated with higher values like love, peace and joy to help you heal trauma, release subconscious negative beliefs and reconnect with your higher Self. We'll add visualisation of colours while breathing into the mix to enhance the effect of these positive feelings. Breathing has been used for millennia by people from many different cultures to find peace of mind in the face of all the stresses of daily life, and many ancient spiritual paths like yoga and Buddhism make breathing a foundational practice. All these techniques are highly effective in their own way and will help you to find peace of mind and improve your health, well-being, energy levels and physical and mental performance if you practise them regularly. The word 'holotropic' literally means 'moving toward wholeness' (from the Greek 'holos' meaning. 'whole' and 'trepein' meaning 'moving in the direction of something'). Holotropic breathing helps people to enter higher states of consciousness in which they can undergo deep healing, connect with their true nature and experience great joy and even bliss. During this session, we'll be using a double inhale breath to take in the maximum amount of oxygen per breath to further enhance the effects of the breathing, so if you have experienced a holotropic breathing session with Jonathan before, coming to this class will give you a different and hopefully even more powerful experience than your last one. We'll end the class with a deeply relaxing meditation and you'll have the opportunity to share what you experienced with the group to help you reflect on and integrate your experience. During this class, Jonathan will show you how to use your breath to enhance the effect of positive thoughts. The shared intent and group energy should make this a powerfully healing and restorative experience for everyone who comes. The sound and vibration combined with breathing and touch will also help to unblock your most important chakras and release any negative energy that is stuck there. More recently, Western research has shown that the oxygen we take in from breathing is critical to energy production and waste elimination. We'll end the session with a deeply relaxing meditation and you'll have the opportunity to share what you experienced with the group to help you reflect on and integrate your experience. Sitting quietly, breathing deeply through your nose for a few minutes and focusing all your attention on your breathing is the easiest way of stilling your mind and finding the peace that we all really yearn for.
