As a local government sector education and training authority, LGSETA creates and implements various innovative skills development interventions aimed at assisting local government employees, the unemployed and other people such as ward councillors and traditional leaders working within the structures of local government. We focus our efforts on ensuring that the way in which learners are trained and educated fulfils the requirements of the local government sector. At LGSETA, we work closely with our stakeholders to enhance training and education. As the highest governing structure, the Board provides strategic leadership for LGSETA; it provide assurance to all stakeholders that LGSETA is fulfilling its obligations in terms of the LGSETA constitution and the Skills Development Act, and reports to the Minister of Higher Education and Training as the Executive Authority of SETA. The Board was also re-appointed to align to the re-established period. The LGSETA Board is supported by four Sub-committees: Executive, Audit and Risk, Finance and Remuneration. The LGSETA delivers learners beyond the expectations of the stakeholder (DHET) year-on-year\. Learners either gain meaningful employment or build businesses\. The LGSETA has developed a cadre of staff serving the nation and delivering on its promises to the stakeholders; and. Our mission is to build Local Governments’ ability to meet its development needs by engaging innovative training methods, effective capacity building frameworks and building strategic partnerships. The organization is actively aligning itself with the strategic objectives of the Department of Higher Education and Training in carrying out its mandate. Critical to this alignment process is the need to drive and live a value system which will drive the necessary change in the organisation and in the way we engage our various stakeholders. Engagement: We are on a mission to play an active role removing barriers that hinder or frustrate organisational performance internally and externally. Empowerment: We will do all we can to provide well researched information to facilitate proper decision-making in and outside the organisation.
