The Sole purpose of starting my own business was to create employment and to teach others like myself about the crane industry. My experience as a crane engineer and the Director of M.V. Cranes & Hoists (Pty) Ltd offers services for all makes of Overhead cranes, Hoists and mechanical handling lifting equipment. The group operations offer integrated solutions for the conception, design, manufacture, supply spare parts, inspection, service, refurbishment, upgrade and conversion of any kind and make of lifting apparatus. Special projects involving bespoke engineering design are regularly undertaken. Cranes & Hoists (Pty) Ltd offers complete service and maintenance programs designed around our customers own quality and inspection requirements and the specific environment and usage of the lifting equipment itself. In particular, highly trained and experienced engineers cover service programs for overhead cranes and hoists and inspection, alignment and leveling of overhead crane gantries and monorails. The service department controls the service and inspection contracts as well as responding to the inevitable breakdown. These contracts may range from a client with one piece of lifting equipment to a client with over a hundred pieces of lifting equipment. All service engineers are apprentices trained and experienced before being sent into the field. Training for all service engineers is conducted on an on-going basis in order to keep the engineer in touch with current Health and Safety Legislations and up to date with new technology. A computer controlled system highlight appropriate service intervals for specific equipment. A uniquely designed Service Inspection Report details the current status and serviceability of all key components and systems in an installation. A succession of these Service Inspection Reports will give both the engineer and the customer a thorough history of the equipments performance quality. Once the customer has accepted a quotation for repair work as specified on a Service Inspection Report, a fully qualified service engineer will conduct the remedial repair work required. Increasingly customers also require further modernization or refurbishment of existing equipment to either enhance its performance or convert it for an alternative application. Increases the efficiently and safety of operation and eliminates costly crane drivers in the cab. Featuring a track survey, the gantry level and span are scanned and assessed for existing or potential damage, wear or misalignment.
