InfinIT was created to fill a gap in the IT industry. There are many IT companies out there, many of whom are very good at what they do; unfortunately most of these are only good in one area. Our estate clients especially were having issues, even though they had the best companies providing services, as each in tern blamed the other providers when something went wrong. What was missing was an IT company that understood more than just one area of technology and as such could provide a stable platform for all services from access control at the entrance, to point of sale at the exit. We already had a strong networking background, both wired and wireless, with our POS installations over the years, so we diversified our portfolio to include amongst other, surveillance and telephony. The result, InfinIT, is a single company that is able to provide all the services required or at the very least create the infrastructure for the specialised providers to slot into without conflicting with each other. Client needed to ease the collection of data from the manufacturing process as the manual method of writing it all down on paper was time consuming and then at the end of the month they sat with a pile of papers which no one had the time to collate into reportable data. The housing estate has over 800 individual residences. As each guest has to sign in and be cleared by the home owner to enter, many phone calls were made each day from the entrance gate to the residents. Taking stock took 2 days and then a full day of a senior managers time to collate and enter data into Pastel. Client had a well-functioning POS system but as it was a DOS based system, the use of newer hardware was a problem. The system was also no longer being updated so the decision was made to replace the aging system and infrastructure with a more modern windows based one. Client wanted to open a new larger store and expand their business yet have full control across the branches and warehouse.
