Cash services and solutions leader SBV Services has sold a 33.33% share to global private security company Prosegur in a move that will boost the positioning and capabilities of both companies and which will enhance SBV’s impact on the global cash services sector. The alliance forms part of SBV’s strategy for sustainable growth and diversification, particularly as it looks to continue expanding into Sub-Saharan Africa. SBV’s existing alliance with the four largest banks in South Africa, its national infrastructure and its expertise in the cash services sector make the alliance a strategic achievement for Prosegur, who will subsequently have an African presence. Founded in 1986, SBV Services is a leading provider of cash services and solutions in South Africa. In addition, SBV has begun expanding into other African countries, having already extended its business into Nigeria, Namibia and Lesotho. Through a partnership with E-Deaf, Deaf persons participate in a training programme at SBV’s cash centres that equips them with the skills and competencies required to work in the SBV processing environment. This specialized programme is holistic, consisting of systems and process training, reading, writing, computer and life-skills training. Currently 25 Deaf people are employed in operations at our centres.
