The Foundation Clinic’s progressive and therapeutically innovative approach to substance abuse treatment and recovery is aimed at assisting individuals, families, communities and organisations. The Foundation Clinic endeavours to assist individuals, families, organisations and communities challenged by the effects of substance abuse. The treatment facility aims to instill knowledge and education in our clients so that they are better equipped to live purposeful lives following treatment as inpatients. The primary focus of inpatient treatment is to start the recovery process by helping clients to bring order, structure and routine back into their lives. Treatment focuses on introducing new tools, techniques and understanding to clients so that they can integrate the learning into their lives following treatment. The Recovery Wellness Programme which follows all inpatient treatment programmes gives clients the space and support to embody this learning, while remaining actively engaged in the clinic and it’s recovery-orientated approach to long-term, sustainable recovery and wellness. Research has shown that recovery outcomes improve through active engagement in a recovery-orientated set of activities. This programme offers flexibility for personal and professional commitments. The clinic hosts 12-step fellowship meetings and support groups six nights a week to support individuals and families in their ongoing recovery. Our clinic, which only accommodates 24 inpatients, is focused on developing supportive relationships with our clients and their families. The multidisciplinary approach to treatment, means that each patient’s case is addressed and managed on an individualised basis. Family involvement is central to treatment, recovery and wellness for the individual as well as their support network. The maximum amount of patients in any programme is kept to ten, so that our therapeutic and clinical team get to interact with patients regularly with a deepened knowledge and understanding of their personal situation. The love and commitment from the treatment and coaching staff was tangible. I’ve met scores of amazing people and come out exceptionally positive and excited about a clean and sober life. The Foundation Clinic showed me how a routine life can be exciting and conducive to greater things. The anxiety and fear of relapse has decreased immensely. It will be superb if this approach can be taught to society at large. My heart is filled with appreciation, my mind with self-belief, my body with strength, and my soul with zest. You have allowed me the privilege of introspection, the wisdom of providing thought and the power of choice. The Foundation Clinic appears to have a very progressive view of addiction and a wonderfully integrated program from the science of clinical psychology to softer therapies such as art therapy. If you cannot get into recovery from one door, others are available and from there, one can access the other parts. It’s also both pragmatic and at times even esoteric. The garden was my solace and a place of great beauty.
