Each learner gets a comprehensive workbook for use during and after the workshop. The aim is to help parents further reinforce the childrens’ skills at home. They can thus reinforce the Study Skills techniques in the classroom. The ideal number of learners is 20-30 per class, but this is flexible. Out of school private groups can be arranged, directly with parents. To help carry the costs, some of our parents will put together a small group made up of their own children and their friends. Music, physical exercises (and some 'dancing' and singing!) As a result, the pupils' ATTITUDE towards their learning and studying becomes much more positive and enthusiastic. The pupils are encouraged to review these actions with their teachers and parents. The Study Skills course gives the pupils a HOLISTIC and INTER-RELATED approach to their learning and studies, and pupils are given specific guidelines to get more organised and manage their TIME effectively. This allows them to prioritise and effectively plan their learning and studying times, in the context of the many other activities in their lives. This combination of factors, plus specific EXAM techniques, helps the pupils to achieve better MARKS and RESULTS. This further boost the pupils' attitude, motivation and confidence for their further studies, either in their next school year or in their tertiary studies. The sequence of courses are designed so that each year some key and important topics are re-visited and re-assessed and then updated and reinforced through practice. At the same time, each successive school grade contains new topics, expanded topics, and the use of different methods to boost the learning process. Although the contents are in the context of Study Skills, quite a few topics also relate to life skills eg. attitude, behaviour, self-awareness, motivation, active listening, self-discipline, hard work, planning, time management, concentration, memory techniques and reducing stress. It has been our pleasure to know and work with Mrs. Cave through Study Skills for at least 5 years. The learners love the course and find it enjoyable and stimulating. We would highly recommend Mrs. Cave and the Study Skills courses to any schools who are considering, as they will definitely be beneficial. These courses have had a positive response from both boys and parents for many years, and hence our enthusiasm to offer it again in Many boys work hard but do not do as well as they might, because they do not know how to study, access or process information. Boys are provided with a workbook, which they will keep as a source of reference.
