Joe was considered the doyenne of antique dealers in South Africa. In 1975 he was elected president of the South African Antique Dealers Association. In the early 1980s, Templars Antiques expanded to include both local and international portfolio collections. In the mid 1990's, the company initiated an association with Custodian Superintendent, a group of specialists dedicated to preserving art around the world. This gave the company unique access to iconic pieces of art in private collections and auctions worldwide. In 2011 the family decided to open a new showroom in the heart of Sandton. The showroom is set on a private estate near the Hyde Park shopping centre. Our aim is to specifically offer the South African design enthusiast some of the iconic home collections we are able to obtain through our international network. The new face of Templars will be opened by Nicholas Meschede and his daughter Louise. A Masters Degree in Art Business from Sotheby's Institute, together with a Diploma in the History of Art from Birkbeck University. In addition she worked at the internationally renowned London Auction house, Sotheby's. Nicholas's experience in the Art and Antique business combined with Louise's fresh contemporary approach will ensure the best possible guidance to all their customers. We offer advice in creating an interior concept by providing inspiration and decorating solutions to our clients, with the focus of incorporating exclusive retail furnishings and home accessories available from our collections.
