What you should know about YIT Hyundai Lighting SA
YIT is a B-BBEE accredited company specializing in the supply and implementation of energy-efficient lighting products. The business was incorporated in 2010 focusing on the promotion of greener technology but has been active for over 20 years. We are involved in the energy-efficiency sector, providing lighting solutions to the Southern African market. Since 2008, South Africa has faced detrimental power supply shortages as a result of Eskom’s power grid volatility, unable to keep with the demand and growth of the country, resulting in mass load shedding. It was estimated the electricity crisis cost the economy R300 billion since 2008 through loss of investment, growth, loss of productivity and jobs. We specialize in the supply of energy-efficient technologies. In addition to supply, YIT is actively involved in project development for clients from energy audits to final implementation with experience in the Eskom rebate programs. Eskom requests the country to unite together and save up to 10% electricity. The simplest form of energy efficiency is the replacement of old lights with more efficient technology. This is achieved through the reduction in wattage for each corresponding tube size as well as replacing a starter, magnetic ballast and capacitor with a single high performance electronic ballast rated 0.95 power factor. The result is massive energy-savings and reduced maintenance due to fewer components. The T5 has a longer life expectancy than T8/T12 tubes and offers higher lumen-to-wattage ratios. The T8/T12 flickers when switched on with high spike readings, whereas T5 has a warm start. A choice of colors is available to accommodate any requirements. When no protection rating is awarded, the digit is replaced with the letter X. It may also be interpreted that water could enter but has no harmful effects on the component. Test period: continuous underwater submersion Manufacturer specifies conditions such as depth Proper Disposal. In South Africa is it illegal to dispose of fluorescents in the manner equivalent of disposing, say, your day-to-day refuse. The government has established that fluorescents must be taken to authorized sites to have proper and environmentally-safe disposal. Eskom requires this certificate to process through their rebate system. Other types of lamps and components that should be disposed of are: mercury vapors, metal halides, high pressure sodium, halogens and magnetic ballasts.
